Dan’s work focuses mainly on Eritrea, but it has ranged from Africa & the Middle East to Central America & the Philippines.
Dan Connell is a Research Affiliate at Boston University’s African Studies Center and a retired lecturer in journalism and African politics at Simmons University. His work has focused mainly on Eritrea, which is reflected in the selection of books and articles on this site. The themes are democracy—broadly defined—and social justice, the organic linkage between them and the consequences when these links are ruptured. Books and articles are in reverse chronological order. The site also has an archive of events and awards from the Cape Ann Forum, which Dan founded and chaired from 2001 to 2019.
